Background & Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Strategy Manager performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with Walmart by providing strategic, consultative category guidance and leadership to grow a strategic growth category, as category advisor. This position will conduct high quality analysis and synthesis of multi-source data to derive insight into the shopper, while leveraging effective communication & influencing to orchestrate action within the operational realities of Walmart’s environment.
What You’ll Do:
Own the full category growth planning process, from strategy to execution including insights and analytics that translate to shopper experience recommendations, and influence assortment and shelving as well.
Collaborate extensively with internal departments (e.g. Global Customer Insights, People Data Center, etc.) to ensure existing global and US work is translated for use at Walmart
Partner with multiple cross-functional teams to identify how to elevate delivery of current and future shopper insights from existing available data sources from category to department level needs
Provide key insights to category advisor team for translation to the modular process
Work closely with the Unilever-Walmart Shopper Research & Insights team to identify key knowledge gaps and research needs to develop a comprehensive plan for Walmart in-store and online
Identify and understand who the ice cream shopper is both globally and domestically, and translate those findings to the Walmart shopper and aisle
Stay abreast of and uncover emerging global trends and identify how those impact the category, both at Walmart and in ROM
Ensure timely, clear, and robust delivery of category performance reporting, market trends, customer insights, and actionable analytics to Walmart
Develop and foster, through timely and professional communication, business relationships with Walmart key contacts that establish Unilever as lead source for all category strategy needs
Deliver fully integrated consumer, category, and market insight to guide Walmart’s strategic choices and tactical actions, leading to market share growth.
Build a best-in-class relationship with the Walmart cross-functional team, including proactive omni department recommendations that are delivering against their shoppers needs, Walmart’s KPIs, and are operationally executable
Work conjointly with modular teams to align insights and deliver on modular execution
What You’ll Need To Succeed:
Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
Minimum 7 years of experience in Category Management, Insights, or Sales Strategy
CPG experience required; Walmart experience strongly preferred
Experience penetrating, persuading, and influencing internal & external touchpoints through clear, cogent, and concise communication
Expertise in linking analytics via traditional data sources with cutting edge capabilities and tools to develop insights into action
Expertise in JDA and Walmart modular process
Capability to develop and influence strategy at both retailer and manufacturer, at management level positions
Strong understanding of marketing, sales, shopper insights, corporate strategy, and retailer strategy, operations, and planning
Extensive knowledge of syndicated and panel data sources (Nielsen, IRI, Household Panel, Loyalty Card Data, Luminate, Numerator, Kantar, Mintel, etc.)
Excellent communication, planning, analyticalskills required. Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and presentation skills
