Within Unilever, UniOps – Commercial Experience [ComEx] is a global organization focussed on simplifying and digitizing Unilever’s finance operations for unlocking growth and creating value by making our processes and systems simpler, integrated, and easier to work with. We are redesigning and digitally rewiring our operations to enable Unilever to grow profitably and sustainably in the future. We also want to transform the experience of working at and doing business with Unilever – making it easy, user friendly and more like the one click world. We are fully digitizing to transform the way information and insights flow across the business and functions.

Within the service catalogue of ComEx, Intercompany team is responsible for the process design, technology and governance of the end-to-end Intercompany process and Central Function Allocations under Record to Report function (RtR). We are the trusted house of expertise for Intercompany to secure compliance, drive transformation and co-create value along with our partners for Unilever Group.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a high-impact Senior Manager to lead and evolve our global Intercompany operations. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end intercompany processes across all regions, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close, driving compliance with global accounting policies, and delivering large transformation agenda. The role requires strong leadership across a global team, strategic oversight of third-party operations, and an ability to influence senior stakeholders both within the Controllership function and global hubs.

Key responsibilities and deliverables of the role

Operational Excellence & Governance

  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end intercompany close and settlements across entities in compliance with group reporting timelines.

  • Monitor and drive key operational KPIs such as aged intercompany overdues, unreconciled balances, and root cause resolution of mismatches.

Policy Ownership & Controls

  • Own and continuously enhance intercompany accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with global standards.

  • Provide expert guidance on complex intercompany scenarios and ensure consistent policy application across markets and hubs.

  • Maintain a strong control environment aligned with enterprise risk and compliance frameworks.

Stakeholder Management & Influence

  • Engage and influence senior finance stakeholders in GCAD, Controllership, ComEx organizations, and regional service hubs to drive alignment on policy and process changes.

  • Provide thought leadership and advocacy for intercompany process improvements and compliance across entities.

Team & Third-Party Leadership

  • Lead a global team, including third-party operations, to ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery.

  • Drive talent development, process ownership, and accountability across internal and external resources.

Transformation & Systems

  • Lead or support strategic transformation projects related to intercompany, including system upgrades (SAP/S4HANA), automation, Agentic AI adoption, and centralization initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities for process simplification and digitization in collaboration with various finance and technology teams.

Qualification/Experience  

  • CA / CPA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent with 10–15 years of relevant experience in intercompany, controllership, or finance operations in a multinational environment (FMCG preferred).

  • Proven track record in influencing senior stakeholders and driving policy adherence and process changes across regions.

  • Ability to network and influence cross functional stakeholders with a proven record in leading large transformation projects

  • Deep understanding of intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and transfer pricing impacts.

  • Experience with ERP platforms (SAP strongly preferred), reconciliation tools (e.g., Blackline), and automation/analytics platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage global teams, including third-party operations and shared services hubs.

  • Knowledge of Unilever Financial Accounting Policies, SCOA, FIM and R2R relevant controls

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and change management skills.

Key Skills

  • Ability to define and prioritise end-to-end requirements, risks and key dependencies

  • Ability to work cross functionally across Comex service lines finance, supply chain, IT, GCAD, etc

  • Strong knowledge of various finance processes & systems

  • Ability to drive impact through governance and communication

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to decipher large data sets to identify anomalies and recommend solutions

  • Risk management knowledge to spot the possible risks and proactively mitigate them.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders, extended teams and external parties

  • Global experience with cultural awareness and empathy

  • Ability to perform well under pressure and in ambiguous situations
