The Process Engineer role is critical to the development of our factories to World Class, which means zero defects, zero waste and zero losses. She/he will apply extensively the full range of Focused Improvement methods and tools to counter losses identified in the areas of Line Efficiency, Safety, Quality, Business Priority and Cost Deployment, Customer Service and Agility. 

The Business Priority and Cost Deployment pillar will be populated with data built up through application of the Managing Manufacturing Performance Code, which is key to ensuring focus on key losses. Working directly with the line crews on a daily basis, the Process Engineer also acts as the technical trainer for line teams and provides coaching in phenomena identification, root cause analysis, and the establishment of countermeasures and improvements. 

JOB PURPOSE

The Process Engineeris responsible for the validation of all process improvements and the establishment of revised basic conditions on the line. A core deliverable is to eliminate losses and waste and increase the stability of the line to support the transition of traditional line teams to semi-autonomous teams.

  • Data Storyteller. By communicating with key stakeholders, the meaning and story behind data, its trends and context, clear actions are identified which leads to tangible impacts in the factory.

  • Manufacturing & Packaging technology. Rely on basic but consistent understanding of the manufacturing technologies to drive relevant process improvement. 

  • Process and Organizational Design. Leverage technical knowledge and a systems approach to ensure factory lines and processes are optimally resourced (e.g. manpower ratios are efficient and sustainable). 

  • Digital Savvy. Working knowledge on digitalization and the drive to move towards digital systems and processes is a key factor to building safer and more efficient world-class factories driven by real-time data visibility and analytics, machine-driven recommendations, and fully automated systems. 

  • UMS. Apply the full set of UMS methods and tools to identify root causes, define countermeasures and validate their effectiveness, mastery of AM, PM, Q, and FI tools and processes. Establish standards to support line operators and sustain new basic conditions. 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Eliminate Waste and Loss according to the UMS prioritization process using AM, PM, FI and QC pillar tools and methodologies. 

  • Create Technical and Process Standards to ensure process stability on the line. 

  • Train line crews on technical and process standards, and restoration of basic conditions (Stability sustainability). 

  • Identify and extend good practice to other lines. 

  • Application and accuracy of MMP Code data. 

  • Loss analysis & top loss elimination using UMS tools. 

  • Communicate the meaning behind data and the losses it pertains to. 

  • Deliver savings in accordance with a cross-functional glidepath. 

  • Lead projects and initiatives towards long term improvements for reducing losses, waste, NVAA, and other inefficiencies. 

  • Initiate and support digitalization projects aimed to provide automations to eliminate human intervention, increase data accuracy and visibility, optimize workflow processes, and allow for an interconnected factory system. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to visualize clearly what the ideal production system is. 

  • Able to clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards. 

  • Able to present findings and rationales clearly so that the whole factory team can understand. 

  • Able to make logical decisions based on data. 

  • Possessa challenging and pioneering spirit. 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post Graduate level education; Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering. Experience Required: 

PREFERRED / DESIRABLE:

  • Experience in statistics and process control tools. 

  • Experience in AM, PM, Quality and FI tools and processes. 

  • Six Sigma Certification (Preferred) 

  • Confident in applying problem solving tools (5W1H, 4M, 5WHY etc.)
