JOB PURPOSE:
Ice Cream SHE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards. This includes conducting regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards. The manager will also lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
In addition, the IC SHE Manager plays a crucial role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and aligning SHE strategies with organizational goals. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, the manager ensures that safety and environmental standards are integrated into all operational processes. The role also involves mentoring and coaching team members, developing their skills, and empowering them to take ownership of SHE responsibilities, thereby creating a sustainable and safety-conscious work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and corporate SHE regulations and standards and maintain up-to-date knowledge of SHE laws and regulations relevant to the site.
Develop and Implement SHE Programs: Design and implement site-specific SHE policies, procedures, and training programs, promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments and implement preventive and corrective actions to mitigate SHE risks.
Process Safety Management (PSM): Oversee implementation of process safety elements such as MOC (Management of Change), PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review), and hazard studies (HAZOP, LOPA) and ensure integrity of critical safety systems and compliance with process safety standards.
Incident Management: Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Ensure root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective actions.
Training and Awareness: Conduct SHE training for employees, contractors, and visitors. Facilitate safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and behavioural safety programs.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and test emergency response plans (e.g., fire, chemical release, natural disaster). Coordinate with local emergency services and internal response teams.
SHE Performance Monitoring: Track and report SHE KPIs and u se data analytics to drive continuous improvement.
Audit and Inspection: Conduct internal SHE audits and support external audits. Ensure timely closure of audit findings and non-conformities.
Environmental Management: Oversee waste management (including WWTP operation) , emissions control, and sustainability initiatives. Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting obligations.
Site Security Management: Collaborate with security teams to ensure physical security of the site. Support implementation of access control, surveillance, and emergency lockdown procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with site leadership, HR, operations, and external stakeholders on SHE and security matters. Represent the site in corporate SHE and security forums.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in engineering/environmental science/ safety management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing and managing teams.
Certification in safety management is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As publicly announced, it is envisaged that Unilever will internally separate its Ice Cream business by July 2025, at which point this role will transfer to the new Ice Cream company. It is expected that the Ice Cream business will then separate from Unilever by the end of 2025. Any impact on terms and conditions of employment will be communicated in due course.
