Job Title: Mix Plant Manager

Location: Gloucester Factory

Reporting to: Operations Manager 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead the Mix in driving product quality and consistency through robust process control and the application of mixing skills.

  • To monitor conformance to the agreed process control points highlighting and addressing non-conformances and work with the mix technical improvement team to continually improve product quality and consistency, including improvements in plant equipment, mixing process/control and people capability.

  • The functional expert within their site for the mixing process, dosing, blending, pasteurization/homogenization, storage, and delivery to line

  • To lead the site safety area leader program for the Mix department to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees and that all areas meet the highest standards of Health & Safety

  • To be duty holder for DSEAR compliance

  • To lead continuous improvement activities in the Mix department to improve overall efficiency and reduce waste

  • Drive the Quality culture in Mix and ensure standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping are consistently maintained

  • To lead for the site in the European Mix technology platform and implement agreed best practice

  • To take the lead for all CAPEX projects relating to Mix infrastructure and efficiency improvements – upwards of £1m per year

  • Effectively line manage up to 40 people

  • Demonstrate an “owners mentality” and innovate to deliver broad business benefits

  • Prepare and present KPI data as required to multiple stakeholders within the factory and to the external network

  • Create an inclusive, performance focused culture that engages and nurtures talent to improve performance

People Management

  • Build team philosophy and cultivate a team atmosphere by working with the team to achieve the company's targets and objectives

  • Maintain training matrix and ensure employees are adequately trained and competent within their role to ensure operational flexibility

  • Coach the team daily in order that a common goal is focused upon, and those business objectives are met consistently

  • Planning, managing and adjusting staffing levels to meet daily operational requirements within the Mix whilst adhering to labour budget

  • Manage people performance through coaching, development planning, ensuring accountability and regular 1 to 1 interactions

  • Apply the principles of servant leadership to engage and develop autonomy

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in food processing in a highly automated environment

  • Experience operating at a relevant managerial level in FMCG

  • Strong people management skills

  • Performance driven with a proven track record of success in FMCG processing environment.

  • Consumer and customer orientated.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record developing successful teams.

  • A role model, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly motivated individual with an ability to manage effectively in a high speed and volatile environment

  • Numerate and possessing good analytical skills, with experience of working with production statistics, variances, KPIs etc.

  • IT Literate

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.

How is Unilever tackling this?

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.

What can I do?
