JOB PURPOSE
Port Sunlight site is on a transformation trajectory and our masterplan has made a significant commitment to and build capability and upskill our workforce so that we can increase our sustainability, impact and efficiency targets.
The Competence Development Coordinator will report directly to the Competency, Capability and Learning Leader and provide essential support to the Site HR Business Partner/PD Pillar Leader in the execution of competency development and upskilling programmes and ensuring we capture and report and evaluate our learning programmes.
Competence Development Coordinator will work closely with the Competency, Capability and Learning Leader and factory leaders to be the first point of contact for employee and managers in relation to, competence, upskilling and reskilling queries and with define the standards and approach for driving AM, PM, FI and digital competencies.
Competence Development Coordinator will be responsible for producing reports, data and analytics to provide key insights for the Site HRBP and PD Pillar.
Competence Development Coordinator will be keen to throw themselves into this role and provide support, where required, on a number of projects and initiatives. This role provides a great opportunity to apply skills in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
This role will suit a pro-active, resilient and self-motivated individual with a positive way of thinking, highly personable, diplomatic, professional and possess exceptional communication skills. A very pragmatic, hands-on, boots on the floor approach is key to this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Competency, Capability and Learning Leader to conduct skills radars which identifies the competency levels and gaps at an individual, team and factory level
- Support the Competency, Capability and Learning Leader to ensure that the required competence and upskilling needs are prioritised and co-ordinated – producing a upskilling programme endorsed by the AM, PM, FI and digital pillars and signed off by the PD Pillar Leader(s)
- Support the Competency, Capability and Learning Leader by proactively observing capability on the shop floor, and inputting into the upskilling and competency development plans for the site
- Create, Maintain, Revise and Deliver the onboarding programme for all roles joining the factory
- Create, Maintain, Revise and Deploy Skills Matrices for all roles in the factory
- Create, Maintain and deploy training packs for each line/machine as appropriate and monitor completion to ensure accurate reporting
- Develop the standards to be used for SOP creation, revision and version control management
- Develop the standards to be used for OPL creation, revision and version control management
- Develop the standards to be used for TBRA creation, revision and version control management
- Represent HR and Learning Team on the FI and digital Pillars to ensure full alignment with the factory upskilling agenda.

Professional Skills
Essential
- Learning and development experience in an FMCG manufacturing, Logistics / Distribution, environment
- Experienced “train the trainer” or adept in one-to-one/group coaching techniques
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, processes, and technologies.
Desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency Learning Management Systems and author/e-learning software.
Experience required
Essential
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
- Forward looking with a holistic approach
- Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
