JOB PURPOSE
In-Store Visibility or ISV is part of the CS&P department that’s based in Unilever’s corporate headquarters at 160 Bloor Street East in Toronto.
Our primary objective is to lead the development of every special pack and display vehicle for both the Personal Care category.
ISV’s role and responsibilities are also evolving into new areas as the relevance of our function increases at Unilever and within the marketplace. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with the desire and track-record to drive continuous improvement and change.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
- Key operational link with Assistant Brand Manager, Brand Manager, CSP, Supply Chain Planning, Package Engineering, Visual Branding, Purchasing, Co-Packing, Finance and Field Sales for brand issues and opportunities relating to special packs & customer specific packs.
- Working closely with marketing, sales, customer packaging and finance to identify special pack and displayer opportunities, assess business case, develop packaging, and to ensure timing can be met.
- Connecting with Field Sales KAMs to solicit information for volumes, and feedback on packaging (e.g. mixes; concept).
- Communicating special pack and display catalog to field sales teams.
- Post Evaluation of all special pack and display projects. Understand sell-in and financial results of each project.
- Responsible for driving cost saving and gross margin improvements on SP&D structures through the cost transformation project
- Responsible for pulling quarterly display growth and working with KAMs to identify gap closing opportunities
- Accountable for completion of all special pack and displayer ISV pre-launch activities for displays on select PC categories as well as all gift packs (e.g., determining pack structure, facilitate feasibility assessment, forecasts, UPC code updates, project briefs, deal sheets, customer samples)
- Responsible for providing customer/channel inputs to marketing teams developing special pack and displayer business cases (e.g., distribution, turns, competitive insights, margin requirements and input from key customer teams).
Challenges:
- Coordination and relationship management across multiple functions; e.g. feasibility process – reach out to Brand, Finance, Packaging, Supply Chain - ensure steps and responses are completed and received on time. If not, then Associate Trade Marketing Operations Manager should work through the issues directly with the individual. If no improvement, then escalate to individual’s manager and Trade Marketing Operations Manager.
- Multi-tasking and balancing several categories, projects and priorities concurrently.
- Ensure forecast accuracy and reduction of finished goods waste
- Strong understanding of cost drivers in the business and balancing them with what CD and Brand teams want. Ability to stand ground on structures that make good business sense and convey the benefits to the teams.
- Need strong financial understanding – work closely with Category finance, provide cost estimates for financials, review P&Ls for special packs. Candidate needs to be comfortable with ball parking costs and providing cost estimates.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Experiences & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Required. (Business, Finance or Engineering preferred)
- Work Experience: 3-5 years experience
- Following experiences are an asset: brand, sales, customer planning, logistics, finance, supply chain and familiarity with internal operating and ordering systems.
Skills:
- Outstanding project management, ability to coordinate across a vast network of stakeholders (internal and external), skilled at managing multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities and comfortable holding self and others accountable
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply the bigger picture, while attending to the details.
- Clear understanding of internal processes and familiarity with internal operating and ordering systems are a definite asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with SAP, Merlin, Essbase, AcNeilsen a plus.
