Job Title: Safe Travel Manager

Department: Central Safety Health and Environment-Supply Chain

Main Job Purpose:

The Safe Travel Manager with a team of peer professionals to deliver Safe travel across the Ice Cream business. Ice Cream business has robust external and internal commitments for protecting people and the planet and the SHE community facilitates progress against those targets.

Success is determined by a strong SHE culture in Ice Cream team. The Safe travel area covers all movement of Unilever related goods and personnel. Transport operations may be Unilever owned and operated, third party contracted or executed via a commercial carrier. This role will be the technical leader in establishing programs, plans and policies to deliver against the Ice Cream company SHE targets for zero harm in transport operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Sets Strategy to meet commitments about Safe Travel
  • Sets strategy to meet company’s Safety commitments by improving Safe Travel capabilities across Unilever employees, contractors, third party suppliers.
  • Listens and provides support to business units to facilitate progress against a unified agenda particularly in change management such as capital projects etc
  • Leads the culture change process for transport safety
  • Designs and operates governance process to track company performance against all Safe travel safety targets. Works across the organization to

        ensure progress meets company expectations

  • Maintains governance tools relevant to area of governance (i.e. PAR, SPR, WCM, AIRSWEB, SHEnet, MOC, SIRA, Power BI and others)
  • Leads critical root cause investigations globally for complex travel related incidents
  • Maintains the documented standards, policies, and practices to ensure Safe Travel compliance with regulatory and Unilever expectations.
  • Prepares data and verbiage for internal and external company reports for safety technologies ensuring accuracy and brand protection
  • Owner of Standards and Guidance specific to Safe Travel capability
  • material handling equipment safety (MMHE), safe driving, office safety, safe travel,
  • Designs and maintains the learning content and curriculum expectations for all safe travel capabilities across stakeholders working with Supply Chain Academy (SCA) teams
  • Operates within the boundaries of SHE business expectations in cost, capital, and headcount.

Professional Skills:

ESSENTIAL

  • University degree in Science, Safety or Engineering.
  • Technology experience in Safe Travel design and implementation in Unilever or other similar companies.
  • Knowledge in human behaviour and work process associated with unplanned event management.
  • Excellent knowledge of Unilever SHE standards. Working knowledge using all SHE IT tools and how those tools integrate into other functional work processes.
  • Influencing skills and international business/cultural sensitivity
  • Good observation and auditing skills
  • Ability to influence strategic deliverables
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously
  • Working experience with work processes in all functions in Unilever to best integrate all SHE standards and tools.

Experience Required:

  • experience in Safe travel design and implementation for 5-7 years
  • Appropriate functional/technical and project management expertise

PREFERRED

  • Experience supply chain operations
